Year 8 Oxford University Visit

On Thursday, 28 amazing Dyke House pupils were given the opportunity to spend two days in Oxford, looking at the university and experiencing the beautiful city. Traveling to Oxford on Thursday evening, students were immediately pitched into an evening of drama, taking part in a workshop and seeing the performance of The Fairy Queen as staged by Oxford University students. On Friday students took part in a day packed with academic experiences, including academic lectures, college visits, punting and cultural experiences. Year 8 met current students and lecturers, as well as having fun on the river and seeing lots of college life.

A huge thanks to the amazing Ellie Rendle at Trinity College for a brilliant session which including student Q&A and a lovely tour of the college. We had a wonderful time with Emma Simpson at Magdalen College as well who made Oxford University feel both aspirational and accessible with her insightful tour and words of wisdom.

We are very excited to return to Oxford in the future and Year 8 have been inspired by their insight into this amazing university and all it has to offer. Now the challenge begins to transform knowledge and aspiration into academic grades begins!
